Colt Breaking
First Month Colt Breaking Consist of:
1. Standing Tied at hitching rail.
2. Stand while being groomed.
3. Lead and Back.
4. Work in the round pen. (Both Ways) Walk, Trot, Lope, roll back
5. Listen to basic commands
6. Pick up all four feet and stand
7. Stand while being saddled.
8. Drive in the round pen and out in the open!
Second Month
1. Stand Tied at hitching rail.
2. Stand while being Groomed
3. Pick up all four feet and stand
4. Stand while being saddled
5. Work in the round pen (both ways), Walk, Trot. Lope, Roll Back
6. Listen To basic Voice Commands
7. Drive in the round pen and out in the open!
8. ~Ride~ Round Pen, Arena.
9. Take on first Trail Ride.
Third Month
The 3rd month depends on the horse. May start on the cutting flag, cattle, take to the mountains, or what ever you want done. It is all up to the owner at this point. Prices are subject to increase or decrease from this month and on.
********This is all subject to change because every horse is different and the learning ability differs. Listed above is what I expect by the end of the months unless otherwise noted. Groundwork is very important to me because if they do not listen to you while you are on the ground why would they listen to you when you are on them. ********

Training Contract
Welcome! It is my goal to make the most of the time you and your horse spend with me. I highly encourage you to communicate freely with me throughout the training process. Please be open so I can meet or better yet exceed your expectations. Please read the following policy carefully.
This training contract is between Deven Warren (Trainer) and
______________________, hereinafter designated "Owner". I, Deven Warren, agree to accept Owner's horse____________________________ for training beginning on the ________________day of ___________, ___________
Owner and Trainer mutually agree as follows:
1. Owner shall pay trainer for professional services as described below, the fee of $ .per month or $ . per day for training. Monthly rates and all other charges are subject to change upon 30 days written notice to Owner. The minimum training period is 30 days; for starting a young horse, the minimum period is 30 days. Beyond these minimum periods, the owner may end the training contract at any time as long as a minimum of 15 days notice is given and all outstanding fees are paid in full.
2. Full training includes a minimum of four sessions per week and may include riding, lungeing and/or ground work. One session per week may be used as owner lesson provided the horse in training is deemed safe for owner to ride by the trainer. Horses will not be ridden by anyone other than myself, my employees or qualified working students, or the owner while in training unless prior arrangements have been made. I shall train your horse and perform all services compassionately, humanely, and conscientiously in accordance with generally accepted professional standards. I do not and cannot guarantee any effect of my training program or that any particular results will be achieved, since this depends a great deal on the individual ability of the horse.
3. Both parties agree that Deven Warren is not liable for death, sickness and/or accident including consequential damages to horse unless such death, sickness and/or accident was caused by the willful and wanton gross negligence; and the Owner is not liable for death, sickness and/or accident including consequential damages caused by horse, unless Owner had knowledge of horse's pre-existing problems which were the direct cause of such.
4. I reserve the right to notify owner within 7 days of arrival if the horse, in my opinion, is deemed dangerous, handicapped, or untrainable; in such case, Owner is responsible for removing horse within 7 days and all expenses incurred during horse's stay. After all fees have been paid in full, contract is concluded.
6. If I ride the horse at mutually agreed-upon shows, the owner shall pay a per-day showing fee, clipping/grooming fees, horse's entry fees, ground fees, stall fees, and/or expenses incurred while being shown or transported.
7. I encourage you to check on your horse’s progress by regularly visiting the barn. Feel free to stop by at any time and I will make every effort to accommodate you. However, if you set up an appointment ahead of time I can ensure you will be given the attention you deserve.
8. All horses in training must be current on worming and vaccinations. These are administered regularly to all horses under my care, and the cost is billed to the owner. If you prefer you may provide your own dewormer or schedule your own veterinarian to administer these services.
9. Owners will be informed of, and must authorize, any additional services or veterinary appointments. My current veterinarians will render services unless otherwise specified. In any case if we determine that immediate emergency veterinarian care is needed we will make every attempt to contact the owner for approval. If we are unable to make contact, the owner authorizes Deven Warren to act on their behalf and approve emergency services. All services will be at the expense of the owner.
8. Half the training fees are due in advance and must be received no later than the 10th of the month. You should receive an invoice for training no later than the 1st for the upcoming month; additional expenses will be billed as they are incurred.

As a matter of professionalism and common courtesy towards my clients, I try to keep my fees extremely reasonable. Please realize that I have to pay for grooming supplies, tack repair and replacement, horse treats, professional development and too many other expenses to list them all. I love what I do and don’t expect to get rich in the horse business, but I absolutely cannot afford clients who pay fashionably late. Please make every attempt to pay your training bill in a timely manner. Thank you.
